Shark Week 2013 kicked off Sunday night on the Discovery Channel. For some Shark Week is the best week of the summer. Shark Week couples real information and education about sharks with entertainment.

Last night Discovery Channel premiered a film styled like a documentary about the prehistoric shark Megalodon. This enormous creature went extinct over two million years ago. The film "Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives" is a fictionalized story about a boating attack that was caused by a Megalodon supposedly dwelling in the deepest part of the ocean off the coast of South Africa.

Tonight on Shark Week, Discovery Channel will air three new shark specials beginning at 8pm. Every day this week beginning at 9am Discovery channel will also air episodes of past Shark Week favorites.

Today's shows (all times ET/PT) include:

4pm: "Sharkbite Beach." The story of the terrifying shark attacks of 2008. Listen to survivors talk about their encounters with one of the ocean's top predators.

5pm: "Rogue Sharks." Learn about the truth behind mysterious rogue sharks. Are they really man-eaters?

6-8pm: "Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives." Could this prehistoric beast still prowl the open ocean?

8pm: "Sharkzilla: Sharktweeto." Check out the team from the hit Discovery Channel show Mythbusters bring Megalodon to life. The team builds a 52-feet mechanical Megalodon as your shark questions and tweets scroll across the screen live!

9pm: "Return of Jaws" is about the hunting patterns of the great White Shark. There has not been a shark attack in Massachusetts for 80-years. Shark Week looks to make history by tracking a 17-foot long great White using a robotic submarine. Discovery Channel calls this a "Shark Week first".

10pm: "Voodoo Sharks." Is there a shark living in the waters of the Louisiana bayou? Find out tonight as a team of fishermen set out to prove the animal is really there. Meanwhile a shark biologist will teach viewers about the Bull Shark. The Bull is the only species of shark that can survive in both fresh and salt water.

11pm: "Shark After Dark." A late night shark themed show. Tonight see host Josh Wolf swim with sharks. Also "Lord of the Rings" star Dominic Monaghan stops by for a chat!
