The White House Spanish-language website has disappeared, leaving behind an unsettling farewell for its users: a prominent "Go Home" button.
The move struck a deeply personal nerve with immigrant communities and sparked a social media firestorm with debates about the Trump administration's approach to immigration.
TikTok creator @thespacemechanic brought widespread attention to the button in a viral video captioned, "The White House Spanish website didn't just disappear—it left a giant 'Go Home' sign on the door."
In the video, they remarked, "For those of us who are immigrants, nothing captures better what went down today than the takedown of the White House website in Spanish that says go home. That shit is fucking personal."
After clicking the "go home" button, users are directed to a montage of military imagery paired with triumphant music and cinematic shots of Trump, which leads to a page titled "America is Back."
A statement from Trump is also displayed: "Every single day I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe, and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America."
The removal of the Spanish site coincided with a broader wave of executive orders from Trump on his first day of the new term uprooting immigration policies. Among the measures were a declaration of a national emergency to deploy military forces at the border, a suspension of refugee resettlement, and the controversial end of birthright citizenship, according to NBC News.
The incident has stirred reactions, with many viewing the move as a symbol of exclusionary rhetoric.
One user reacted, "Omg my jaw actually dropped." Another pointed out, "Reproductive rights page is gone too." A third noted, "The page that had CONSTITUTION is also gone," while someone else questioned, "Did you watch the Trump propaganda video that comes on when you click 'go home'?"
