Fans have already learned that Alison’s return to Rosewood, is going to “change everything.” Alison allegedly has chemistry with Caleb, and they may even share a kiss, prompting a clear love triangle between Ali, Caleb, and Hanna, who will most likely be devastated. Alison’s presence also adds tension to Ezra and Aria’s relationship, which like Ezra’s health is only hanging on by a thread. Despite Ali’s insistence that Ezra does have true feelings for Aria in the Season 4 finale “A is for Answers,” every time Ali said his name, Aria seemed to have a mild panic attack.
But the former reigning queen of Rosewood, won’t stop with just half of the Liar’s relationship, she will be attempting a pure cleanse, meaning “Pigskin,” also known as Paige will be most likely feeling intimidated by Ali’s return. “Pretty Little Liars” show runner, Marlene King revealed the feud between Alison and Paige is just getting started. King tweeted a somewhat teasing message to fans saying, the first “Paige/Alison face off” is being filmed right now. It’s safe to assume that in addition to past resentment, the forthcoming face-off will revolve around Emily, Alison’s long lost best friend and Paige’s once very serious girlfriend. Paige and Emily have been in a serious relationship for most of the series. However, Emily coldly ended it after learning of Paige’s betrayal, which jeopardized Ali’s safety.
But the drama surrounding Ali’s return won’t just end with the Liars’ relationship with their significant others, there will be some issues between Ali and the Liars, more specifically Spencer. Troian Bellisario, who portrays Spencer, the type-A, (no pun intended) neurotic, brains of the group, revealed that welcoming Alison back into the friendship fold will be more tumultuous than ever. Bellisario revealed to PrettyLittleLiars.com that Alison and Spencer’s relationship will be complicated in Season 5. “Alison and Spencer have always been … frenemies at best,” Bellisario teased. “They’ve always had a level of competition and their families are intertwined in very, very bad ways. So I don’t think they’re just automatically going to go into smooth sailing. I think it’s going to be a lot of problems.”
The main problems will most likely stem from the fact that Spencer thought that she killed in Alison in a drugged up, Adderall stupor, no wonder it’s awkward, she actually thought she killed her best friend. Now that Alison is alive, she finally cleared Spencer’s conscience and revealed that she did not kill her (obviously) but she also did not kill the girl occupying Alison’s mismarked grave. This pair were certainly bordering on enemies before this awkward accusation and threatening altercation the night Ali disappeared, so we are assuming that things will only get worse. In addition, Bellisario mentioned each of the girl’s families being very intertwined, we knew that the Hastings were almost too good at cleaning up their children’s tracks, but then Mrs. DiLaurentis did attempt to bury her daughter alive. Maybe the return of Melissa, and Alison has something to do with the “problems” growing between these two and their families in Season 5.
