Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was accused of "celebrating" Pope Francis' death in an X post shared Monday.
"Today there were major shifts in global leaderships," Greene wrote. "Evil is being defeated by the hand of God."
Marjorie Taylor Greene seemingly celebrating the death of Pope Francis is a new low even for her.

X user @ArtCandee accused the Republican leader of "seemingly celebrating" the pope's death, calling it "a new low even for her." Social media users chimed in to share similar opinions, with many labeling Greene "vile."
"Those people make no sense to me. Francis was the only pope that was actually fixing the Catholic church issues & began holding their people responsible for crimes, & the GOP denounces him & mocks the church? But the two popes before him covered that up, & they get praised? WTF," X user @YukiFeather proffered.

Greene wasn't the only Republican accused of celebrating the Roman Catholic leader's death. Ann Coulter shared a similar message on Monday, shortly after the news broke.
"Good work, JD," Coulter wrote, seemingly referring to the vice president's meeting hours before the pope's death.
Good work, JD.

While some users were unsure whether Coulter was trolling Vance, many believed she was genuine in her message.
"You could disagree with Pope Francis over some issues, fine. But to rejoice in his death is truly despicable," an X user argued.

Within hours of Pope Francis' death, conservatives began throwing their support behind Cardinal Robert Sarah, an "anti-woke" pope who frequently criticized Francis.
