Season 5 of “Pretty Little Liars” is closer than fans think, and with only a few weeks left of waiting fans are desperate for the highly anticipated reunion between Hanna and Caleb. After departing from “Pretty Little Liars” in Season 4 for his own spin off series “Ravenswood,” Caleb’s relationship with Hanna has been seriously complicated. He met Miranda, found a picture of himself in a grave yard, almost died, and even maybe fell in love with a ghost that only he could see, so “complicated” doesn’t even really begin to cover it. But all that’s about to change now that he is on his way back to Rosewood, and Hanna will welcome him home with open arms.
Well, that’s what we want to happen, but unfortunately Haleb’s relationship is not a fairy tale, and despite the intense love they have for each other, Season 5 will be a trying time for the pair. First off, Caleb won’t even return to Rosewood until episode 5, the milestone 100th episode, “Miss Me x 100,” and while the episode title is cleverly referring to the abundance of returning characters in Rosewood, it also most likely has to do with the reunion of Haleb, who have been missing each other quite desperately over throughout the last season.
“Pretty Little Liars” producer Joseph Dougherty revealed to E! Online that things will be different for Hanna and Caleb, the two have grown up a lot in the time they have been apart, and they have both experienced new relationships. Hanna met Travis, when the once mysterious gas station attendant helped her get her mother, Ashley, out of jail for the murder of Detective Wilden. The pair both supported each other through family trouble, first with Ashley almost going to jail for murder, and then Travis’ father was on trial due to Wilden’s blackmail. All of which Caleb was notably absent for. However, Caleb himself was going through some serious supernatural stuff, in “Ravenswood” a deadly curse haunts him and his 4 newly acquainted friends, but he breaks up with Hanna in order to protect Miranda and discover past secrets about himself and his ancestors.
These experiences will be difficult to overcome for both, Dougherty explains, “Hanna's look is going to be adjusted, Hanna's attitude is going to be adjusted. Caleb and Hanna have both changed, and they've both had experiences that the other one is un-privy to." Dougherty also teased, "In both cases for their experiences, they really aren't at liberty to discuss it, and they're both personally under a lot of stress inside. So I think both of them are kind of looking to the other to kind of say, ‘take me back to that safe place where I once was before.'"
Even though things won’t be easy for Haleb, Dougherty’ comments do sounds promising. No relationship stays the same, and people change, but fans know that Hanna and Caleb love each other for real, so despite the added influences and distractions, (we are looking at you Alison) Hanna and Caleb will most likely be on their way to a happy life by the end of Season 5. Recent spoiler reports claim that Alison and Caleb will share an unlikely chemistry, and may even share a kiss, but knowing Caleb, we are thinking this may be just another one of Alison’s game, he is the unfortunate victim of. Fans know that Caleb isn’t fooled by just any pretty blonde, and her “back fat,” right Kate? Mr. Rivers only has eyes for Hanna, and while she most certainly be stubborn about trusting him again, she will eventually forgive him.
Season 5 of “Pretty Little Liars” premieres on ABC Family on June 10 at 8 p.m. with the premiere episode “EscApe From New York.”
