Season 5 of “Pretty Little Liars” is underway, and even though Ali has officially returned to Rosewood that doesn’t mean the former reigning Queen is by any means safe. With Ali’s return to Rosewood in episode 2 of Season 5 “Whirly Girly” also came the return of well-known threats, especially considering Mona’s newly assembled hate group. And while danger has been lurking around many corners in “Pretty Little Liars” the series has been seriously racking up the body count only two episodes in to Season 5. The season premiere “EscApe From New York” featured not only the reveal of Shana as “A” but also her ultimate demise. In an attempt to protect not only herself but also her friends, Aria hit Shana with the end of a shotgun, subsequently knocking Shana from the theater’s stage and causing her to fall to her death. Then in episode 2 Alison’s new dog Pepe discovered “Whirly Girly” Mrs. DiLaurentis’ body. Fans witnessed the apparent death of Mrs. Dilaurentis by “A” whom then decided to bury her in the same way to buried Alison, when she believed she was dead.
So with already two dead bodies occupying the morgue at Rosewood, fans are now beginning to speculate on just who will be the next character eliminated by everybody’s favorite nemesis, “A?” We have three guesses as to who will be the next unfortunate “A” victim to get the axe; Melissa Hastings, Alison DiLaurentis, and none other than Mona Vanderwaal, and here’s why!
While I love Mona’s style and slick ways as much as the next “Pretty Little Liars” fan, I am nervous that her life as Rosewood’s biggest tormentor is about to be cut seriously short. We know that Mona has and is (allegedly) still a part of the “A team” but it also seems like Mona is ready to rally her own team. In the Season 5 premiere episode, “EscApe From New York” Mona, with her loyal lap dog Lucas were seen meeting with others, who were personally victimized by Alison DiLaurentis. Despite her allied feelings with “A” against Alison, we can’t imagine “A” playing nicely with Mona, who in episode 2 openly declared herself as Ali’s public enemy #1. By sending Ali the threanting message and confirming her threats at Ali’s “grave” it seems like Mona is ready to final the score once and for all. And if Mona gets to Ali before “A” does, we are thinking that the black hoodie mystery will most certainly have a problem with that, I mean she/he has been tormenting this girl for 2 years, we can’t image they would give up so easily!
Speaking of “A’s” desire to end Alison, fans are starting to think that Ali’s time in Rosewood will be shorter than expected. The series has been signed to ABC Family for two more seasons, could Ali possibly evade “A” as a sitting duck in Rosewood for two full years?! Doesn't she have to go to college soon? Won’t all the Liars be leaving Rosewood soon? If I know “Pretty Little Liars,” the girls will most likely end up going to Hollis, but despite the conveniently located college, the entire “A” game seems to be focused more on the DiLaurenits family as a whole, meaning that even if Ali comes clean about “the Jenna thing” and tells the police the real story, we are not thinking “A” will be stopped until the entire family is gone.
Last but certainly not least is Melissa Hastings, who in comparison to the first two characters will most likely be the first to be killed by “A.” Melissa has floated in and out of Rosewood and in and out of all four seasons of “Pretty Little Liars” pretty must starch free (aside from her husband dying and her losing her unborn child) but still, fans are starting to believe that in Season 5 the chickens are going to come home to roost for the elder Hastings sister. In the Season 4 finale, “A is for Answers” Melissa told her father, Peter, a secret regarding the girl inside Ali’s grave. After returning home form London, it seemed like Melissa was ready to come clean about the situation, however her protective father stopped her. In addition to her harboring the biggest secret of the current season, Melissa was heavily involved with the N.A.T club whose members been killed off one by one.
What do you think about guesses for the next character killed in Season 5 of “Pretty Little Liars?” If you think we are wrong, and another character is in far worse danger, comment in the section below and let us know! Season 5 “Pretty Little Liars” continues with episode 3 “Surfing the Aftershocks” next Tuesday, June 24 at 8 p.m. on ABC Family!
