Samsung has unveiled today the new Galaxy Camera 2. The new digital camera is powered by Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and features a 16-megapixel BSI CMOS Sensor and 21x optical zoom, just as the original Samsung Galaxy Camera had. The Galaxy Camera 2 also features a 1.6GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage plus the device has a microSD card support. More information and photos should be announced at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas next week.
The software side features 28 different pre-set shooting modes and the ability to capture video in fast forward or slow motion. A 4.8-inch HD Super Clear LCD is used in the Galaxy Camera 2 for taking and viewing videos and photos or users can take advantage of Remote Viewfinder for added control with their smartphones. The Galaxy Camera 2 device also includes the Google Play store so users have access to Android’s extensive library or photo editing and sharing applications.
Samsung announced the new device will have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC connectivity, while the previous Galaxy Camera model had 4G and 3G options. Pricing and availability have yet to be announced, but Samsung will have the Galaxy Camera 2 on-hand at CES, so we will likely learn more about the device in Las Vegas at the event next week. The original Galaxy Camera with 3G connectivity launched for $499 so this new camera should be around the same price if not cheaper.
