Prince Harry has lost one of his most notable attributes since he married Meghan Markle. The two got married in 2018 and are now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Before he met Meghan, people knew Prince Harry as a funny, easy-going man. He got the name “The People’s Prince” because of his charisma — his lightheartedness made it too easy for him to find his way into people’s hearts. However, something has reportedly changed since he became a married man.
Royal commentator Ann Gripper commented during her “Pod Save The Queen” podcast that Prince Harry has lost his fun side and his double act with his brother Prince William since marrying Meghan. “Some of the royal correspondents, people who have been on the royal circuit for a long time, they’ve noticed a change in Harry,” she said. “He used to be the joker and had a lot of fun, but they feel like he’s changed a bit and is less inclined to get involved,” she added.
Body language expert Judi James, who was a guest during Gripper’s podcast, also noticed the same thing. Asked if he noticed changes in Prince Harry, James was affirmative. “Harry’s body language has changed a lot since he got married,” she said. “We kind of saw the old, fun Harry for the last time at Invictus Games where he and Meghan came flying out in ripped jeans. He was bursting with pride but also being quite funny, his usual royal joker routine,” she added.
When Prince Harry and Meghan attended the Invictus Games around September 2017, they were still in their dating era. Judi said that after that, the prince seemed to have taken himself a lot more seriously. According to the body language expert, he might have chosen to put his funny side aside because he thinks that what his wife loves about him is his manly, grown-up, sophisticated side.
Queen Elizabeth bestowed Prince Harry the title “Duke of Sussex” when he married Meghan Markle. It is possible that Prince Harry has changed by choice because he is aware of his role now on the world stage as an ambassador, someone who is supposed to go around doing good work and taking life more seriously. His role as Meghan’s husband and father-to-be might have also influenced that choice.
