Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently in Morocco for a royal tour, and reports have it that the Duchess of Sussex got herself a new henna tattoo while visiting the Education for All boarding house in the North African country. If online photos are anything to go by, it looks like Prince Harry is happy to see the floral art on her wife’s hand.
Over the weekend, photos of the royal couple having a great time at the boarding house made the rounds online, showing Prince Harry grinning with his wife while sitting next to each other after the tattoo application.
Other photos of the two also show them displaying some rare PDA while watching the girls play soccer, with Prince Harry even planting a kiss on Markle’s head while looking at the Duchess’ new tattoo.
In an interview with people, Khadeja Oukattou, a housemother in the boarding house, revealed that the tattoo actually signifies “good luck” for the pregnant Duchess. “It’s for when we have a big party. Now she is pregnant we do the henna to keep her happy with the baby. For good luck,” she said.
Oukattou also revealed that the girls in the boarding house are all excited for Baby Sussex to arrive. “They wished them a good life and good health for them and the baby,” she added.
During the visit, the royal couple spent some one-on-one time with each of the girls, who came from very far villages of the Atlas Mountains. “They have given confidence to the girls here and will help other girls in the future,” said Oukattou.
“Education for All” builds boarding houses for girls ages 12 to 18 to allow girls from the rural communities of the High Atlas Mountains to access secondary education. According to Oukattou, meeting the royal couple gave the girls “more confidence” and made them all proud.
Meanwhile, Markle is not the first royal to get a henna tattoo while pregnant. When she was 7 months pregnant, Kate Middleton also received a small henna tattoo from a local artist while on a royal tour with Prince William.
