It seems as if last night’s debate has left the nation divided on several topics. Donald Trump expressed his support for the unconstitutional stop and frisk policy, and The Breakfast Club’s DJ Envy agrees with his notion. This of course has sent social media, mainly Twitter into a frenzy.
This morning the popular radio show was discussing last night’s presidential debate and focused briefly on Trump’s lie that stop and frisk wasn’t ruled unconstitutional and that it worked very well. After playing the clip from the debate, Charlemagne The God went against Trump saying that the numbers just don’t simply support his opinion.
DJ Envy interjected and said that it took a lot of guns off the street. Charlamagne quickly stated, “ No it doesn’t. Now you can say it was only .1 percent. Envy quickly responds, “What’s not a lot of guns? Nine hundred guns off the street is not a lot of guns? Charlamagne then questions Envy, “Where’d you get that number from?”
“In 2011, the last year that they did stop and frisk, they actually took, excuse me, 890 guns off the street, Envy says.
Angela Yee then stepped into the conversation saying what we all know that stop and frisk didn’t really reduce any crime or keep anyone safer.
Charlamagne jumps in saying “ Although one gun taken off the street is a great thing, overall, it was just an excuse for police officers to harass African-American and Hispanic people.
While the trio continued to go back and forth, Yee drove the point home. “The facts are that it really just wasn’t that effective period.” Envy tried to make his point about guns but Yee responded, “Guns are found in less than .2 percent of stops,” according to data findings.
Despite everyone’s use of facts Envy still defended the policy saying that if it was applied more fairly across the board then it would be all good. Majority of The Breakfast Club’s audience is members of the African-American and Hispanic community. Once Twitter got wind of his comments, the slander began.
