New England Patriots owner Robert Craft compared Donald Trump to a "drunk fraternity brother" in a recent interview discussing his former friendship with the former president.

Robert Kraft appeared on "The Breakfast Club" radio program with Charlamagne tha God Friday, where he shared that he was shocked when he learned Trump had been elected president in 2016.

"I couldn't believe it, it was like having someone who was a drunk fraternity brother become president of the United States," Kraft said on the show.

The NFL owner explained that Trump became a friend of his in the early 90s as he was traveling to Florida more often. Kraft added that when his wife died, Trump "was one of four or five people who reached out to me and was really, really nice."

Kraft, who has an estimated net worth of more than $11.8 billion, admitted that he made "a strong donation" to Trump's inauguration, but has since distanced himself from the former president after the events of Jan. 6, 2021, as reported by Fox News.

"I will say this," Kraft said on the show. "I was very upset [with] what happened January 6. And I haven't talked to [Trump] since then."

Trump and Kraft's relationship was previously highlighted in May 2021, when the NFL owner and the Patriots denied allegations that Kraft and Trump tried to get a U.S. senator to drop a cheating investigation into the team by offering them "money in Palm Beach" in 2008, according to a report by ESPN.

A team spokesman told ESPN in 2021, "Mr. Kraft is not aware of any involvement of Trump on this topic and he did not have any other engagement with Specter or his staff."
