In anticipation of the forthcoming launch of NBA Live 14, EA Sports has released a gameplay trailer for the game, which will be available for Xbox One and Playstation 4. Aside from Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving, who is featured on the cover, the trailer includes appearances from other NBA standouts like Steve Nash, Deron Williams, Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, and Kemba Walker. The creators of the popular game are trying to get its name back in the ranks of the best sport games after a several-year-long hiatus. According to StupidDope.com, NBA Live 14 was developed in Orlando, Florida by EA Tiburon, and it's set to release this fall to PS4 and Xbox One with a load of new features and stunning graphics as well as authentic stylings of over 50 of the NBA's biggest stars to enhance the gameplay. BounceTek physics-based dribbling and enhanced playbooks have also been thrown in, in an attempt to create a more interconnected experience for the game's players when it hits stores on November 19th.

Reaction to previews of the forthcoming game haven't been quite as enthusiastic as the game's creators and producers might've liked - especially because rival NBA 2K14 has been much better received. Kotaku writes that a lot of that sentiment, however, is reactionary, saying "NBA Live's video shows more of its natural gameplay than does NBA 2K14, though NBA 2K14 does a better job of showing how this comes together with the series' presentation - which already is damn good - to offer a more immersive experience." The site concludes that "the reaction to both videos is reputation-based: NBA 2K14 is a clear leader and got raves for showing, frankly, very little. NBA Live 14 doesn't get any extra credit for showing up, because it's something the series has failed to do for three years. Both videos come in right around expectation, neither exceeding nor failing them."

In an open letter to fans, executive producer Sean O'Brien recently wrote that "there is an enormous financial commitment to the development of the product on Xbox One and PlayStation 4" from EA Sports, "including the size of the team and resources required to give us every opportunity to make a great basketball game that can compete with such a solid franchise like NBA 2K."
