Shakira delivered an intense two-hour concert in Peru a day after being hospitalized for a severe gastroenterological issue.

The show on Monday was supposed to be her second in Peru but ended up being the first after Sunday's performance was canceled due to her health issue. Still, she gave it her all at the José Díaz National Stadium, where an energetic Peruvian audience even brought her to tears.

Shakira confirmed the rescheduled date for the canceled concert, though Peruvian fans will have to wait a bit longer to experience the show.

Separately, and as previously seen in Brazil shows, the event was marred by organizational issues, with some fans even alleging fraud on social media.

A rocky start

The first concert in Lima was set for February 16, but in the early hours of that day, news broke of Shakira's medical emergency. Suffering intense abdominal pain, she was taken to a hospital, where she faced delays in receiving care before being transferred to Clínica Delgado, where she was admitted.

Hours later, Shakira personally announced the concert's cancellation. "I am not in good enough condition to perform tonight," she shared. "I'm very sad to not be able to take the stage today."

However, her health scare took another turn when confidential details of her treatment were allegedly leaked from the clinic.

This serious breach of patient privacy sparked outrage, leading the facility to issue an apology: "We deeply regret what happened and reaffirm our zero-tolerance policy against any violation of our patients' personal information."

The matter is now under investigation. Peru's Ministry of Justice has weighed in, and the National Health Superintendence (Susalud) has launched an inquiry.

Under Peruvian law, the unauthorized disclosure of patient data is a serious offense, with penalties reaching up to 300 Tax Units (UIT), amounting to approximately $433,000. Authorities have already intervened at the clinic.

A triumphant return to the stage

The turmoil was set aside on Monday night as "La Loba" dominated the stage.

"It feels incredible to be back in Peru after 14 years. This is a dream come true," she told the crowd. She also thanked fans for their support during her hospitalization.

Her setlist featured 30 of her biggest hits, from 'Hips Don't Lie' to 'Girl Like Me,' reaffirming her status as one of Latin music's top performers.

One of the most emotional moments of the night came when she performed 'Antología,' moving her to tears.

Despite the previous day's health setback, she remained energetic throughout the two-hour show, dancing flawlessly and engaging with the audience.

Outrage on social media

While Shakira's performance was magical, not all attendees were happy—through no fault of her own.

On social media, fans complained of a "scam" involving the stadium's layout. The original event promo showed an extensive T-shaped stage stretching across much of the field, but attendees were shocked to find it significantly shortened at the venue.

Many who purchased Section B tickets expecting a close-up view were left with what they described as "the worst seats."

New dates in Peru

Despite the disappointment surrounding the initial cancellation, event organizer Master Live announced not only the rescheduled concert but also an additional third show due to overwhelming demand.

Tickets for the original performance will remain valid for November 15, 2025, with the added show set for November 16, 2025.
