A man reportedly slit the throat of his girlfriend's father for refusing his proposal to marry his daughter in Thane, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India earlier this month.
The accused, identified as Pappukumar Shah, a resident of Bihar, India, was reportedly in a relationship with the daughter of his neighbor Kamaljit Sande, 52. However, when Shah finally expressed his desire to marry Sande's daughter, the patriarch bluntly refused his proposal.

During the party, however, when Sande and Shah got really drunk, the suspect allegedly lured him to a compound in a remote area in Bhiwandi rural and proceeded to slit his throat and kill the patriarch. Sande's family members who were awaiting his return subsequently called Shah and enquired about the father's whereabouts. When Sande's daughter asked Shah to tell the truth, he told her that her father will never come back home.
Following the incident, Bhiwandi Rural police launched an investigation into the murder and recovered the body of the deceased.
On March 13, a team of police officers from Bhiwandi Rural police station found Shah at his village and arrested him. Shah was later produced in the court and remanded to custody till March 19.
