Man Kills 19-Year-Old Girl For Rejecting His Proposal, Later Dumps Body In Forest

A man reportedly killed a 19-year-old girl for refusing his marriage proposal and then proceeded to dump her body in a forest near Andheri village, Himachal Pradesh, India.

The 21-year-old suspect, who was employed as a company security guard, was reportedly in a “one-sided love” affair with the 19-year-old victim. When the accused later learned that the girl was engaged to another person, he stormed to her house to propose to her. However, when the victim refused his proposal, a scuffle ensued between the woman and the accused, during which the accused killed her in anger, the Tribune reported.

On Feb. 20, the victim was reportedly alone at her residence since her parents had gone to Haryana. After learning that the victim was unaccompanied, the accused went to her home and tried to coax her to accept his proposal. However, when the victim refused, the accused, in a fit of anger, pushed her, during which her head hit a wall. The accused then allegedly gagged the victim's mouth and strangled her to death.

Following the murder by suffocation, the accused put the victim's body in a sack and carried it about 700 meters away to a forest. At the wooded area, the suspect dumped her body and covered her face with stones.

When the girl’s family returned home, they immediately reported her missing to the police who subsequently launched a search for the victim. After weeks of searching, her body was finally recovered on March 3.

According to Babita Rana, Additional SP Sirmaur, when the officers detained the accused for interrogation, scratches were visible on his chest which he may have suffered during the scuffle with the victim.

In a similar but unrelated incident, an Indian man has been accused of viciously bludgeoning to death with a machete a woman he loved, right in front of the victim's own mother, for rejecting his proposal in Guwahati, Assam, India, Latin Times reported.

The accused, identified as Sanjay Lalung, was reportedly in love with the victim, Marami Tanti, and expressed his love for her several times. However, frustrated by the victim's constant rejection, Lalung, in a fit of rage, allegedly dragged Tanti out from a vehicle, slashed her with a machete, and proceeded to murder her in front of her mother out of anger.

On the day of the brutal slaying, Lalung reportedly visited Tanti's residence unannounced. After seeing Tanti and her mother approaching the residence in their car, he walked up to the two before proceeding to drag the victim out of the vehicle and attack her with a machete. Tanti was reported dead at the scene. After killing the woman, the accused fled from the crime scene in his car.

He was later tracked down and arrested by the Satgaon police.
