A man reportedly brutally assaulted his wife, son, and mother-in-law for serving him a smaller piece of fish for dinner in Kerala, India on Friday.
On Oct. 15 night, the accused, identified as Biju, 41, of Kottukal, was reportedly served a smaller piece of fish for dinner while his son was served a bigger piece of fish. This enraged Biju, and in a fit of rage, he brutally beat up his wife and son. When his mother-in-law tried to intervene and stop the fight, he allegedly beat her up as well, Mathrubhumi reported.
Following the brutal assault, the victims reportedly lodged a complaint with the police. A police team led by Vizhinjam Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) Sampath led an investigation into the incident and reportedly arrested Biju.
In a similar but unrelated incident, a young man allegedly shot his mother and sister and killed them over not cooking tasty food in Karnataka's Uttara Kannada district on Wednesday. The accused, Manjunath Haslar, 24, an alcoholic, reportedly got into an argument with his mother Parvathi Narayana Haslar, 42, over the sambar (a lentil-based vegetable soup in India), that she had prepared. He argued with her saying that it was not tasty enough. He then opposed his mother's plan to buy a phone for his sister Ramya Narayana Haslar, 19, by taking a loan.
Parvathi then reportedly told Haslar that he does not have the authority to tell her whether or not to buy the phone for his sister. Haslar got enraged and in a fit of rage, he took a country-made gun that was lying in his home and allegedly shot his mother to death. After killing his mother, he proceeded to murder his sister as well, according to The News Minute.
The incident reportedly came to light when the accused's father discovered the alleged murder and lodged a complaint with the police against his son.
In another incident, an abusive husband allegedly beat his wife to death over a delay in serving him dinner in Khunti district, Jharkhand, India in September. The accused, a 70-year-old man, who was reportedly in an inebriated condition, was angered by a slight delay in his dinner being served and started arguing with his wife Hiramani, Latin Times reported.
Following a heated confrontation, the suspect allegedly proceeded to thrash and pummel his wife to death with a stick in a fit of rage. Hiramani, unfortunately, died on the spot. The police responded to the scene the next day, and transferred the remains to a public hospital for autopsy.
