The Houston Rockets seems to be finding back its momentum after beating the Detroit Pistons 96 - 82.
No. 7 guard Jeremy Lin led the Rockets with a game-high eight assists to get their first home win of the season.
The Rockets are now 3-3 and Lin said this win was important for them.
"I think it's big for us just to break the drought," Lin said. "We needed this win for sure."
Lin said the team is starting to mesh together.
"We were making quicker decisions," he said. "It was just quicker and easier and seemed more natural."
This sixth game was dedicated to Head Coach Kevin McHale, who took a leave of absence from the team to "attend to a personal family matter."
Rockets guard James Harden scored 20 points (6-14 FG, 6-7 FT) and five rebounds.
"It was good for us to come out here and get a win, especially for Coach McHale and what he's going through," he said. "I think defensively we played well and offensively we moved the ball a lot better. Hopefully we can build off this game."
Detroit Pistons Coach Lawrence Frank said he was "extremely disappointed" in the team's performance. The Pistons are winless so far this season.
"Your resolve is tested everyday regardless of what your record is," Frank said. "We knew that this game going in was going to be a test of character. Four games in five nights and back to backs and the road trip hasn't gone well. Could we build on last night and we didn't. We gave up 28 fast break points. We have to put more into it. It was very disappointing within the score 62-56 and then for a ten or eleven minute stretch it was twenty two to one. It's a tough one to swallow and we'll have to keep on figuring some things out."
The Rockets' resolve will be tested when they take on the Miami Heat on Monday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. Miami has one loss this season.
