Meghan Markle has been a fan of wearing darker colors, unlike Kate Middleton, who has always opted for brighter shades. But it has now been revealed that Meghan might be communicating something whenever she’s wearing dark hues.
During a previous interview, the Duchess of Sussex talked about her character in the hit American TV series “Suits.” She said that Rachel Zane usually wears dark colors whenever she’s feeling stressed and unhappy.
And by the looks of it, the same thing applies when Meghan is out in public. During most of her public engagements with Prince Harry since they tied the knot, Meghan has been photographed in darker pieces of clothing.
“You’ll notice that in Season 2 when Rachel’s falling in love with Mike, I wear more blush tones,” Meghan told InStyle. “And Season 1 when she’s really all about business, I wear more charcoal greys and blacks. I think our clothes are such a reflection of how we’re feeling,” she added.
Meghan Markle went on to say that when a person is in love, it is second nature for her to wear more romantic pieces of clothing. And when someone is going through a stressful time, there is a tendency to wear more monochrome or darker tones.
However, Express also claimed that there could be another reason why Meghan tends to gravitate toward wearing black, grey and navy blue. This is because wearing clothes that are not that bright allows her to stay out of the limelight when royal duty is at hand.
Prince Harry’s wife has also previously stated that she feels more comfortable in black. Her husband also tends to wear black colors when out in public.
Meanwhile, Meghan’s devotion to wearing black clothing sets her apart from the other members of the royal family. Queen Elizabeth II, for example, always wears bright-colored clothes because she wants and needs to stand out from the crowd.
Kate is also known for wearing light-colored pieces ever since she wed Prince William in 2011. The Duchess of Cambridge’s fashion has evolved in terms of style, but she still chooses to wear her favorite shades until today.
