Meghan Markle naturally has curly hair, but people are obsessing about how she pulls off her straight strands. She looks effortless with that classic look without looking messy. Oftentimes she is seen strutting with a messy bun or keeping it prim and proper with her signature waves. How does she tame her curls and look flawless with straight hair?
Meghan’s former stylist, Theonie Kakoulli, told People that Meghan always opted for keratin treatments. These provide her hair with added protein and amino acids that, when incorporated with heat, smoothens out her natural curls and give off a sleek style.
How To Achieve Meghan’s Hairstyle
First, you must get a similar cut to Meghan’s hair. It should be just below the shoulder and should incorporate face-framing layers. According to Cheat Sheet, she usually struts with a straight and sleek look but has started to change her signature hairstyle to loose waves.
Loose Waves
Blow dry your hair straight while creating as much volume at the roots. You can achieve this by flipping your head upside down as you dry your hair with a paddle brush. Next, portion the top layer of the hair before pinning it up and out of the way. This works by starting with a thin bottom layer as you work your way up.
Afterward, wrap one-inch sections using a curling iron without the hair ends to achieve the loose wave look. Make sure that you separate equal sections all the way around for a clean style. Then twist the ends of each curl to lock the wave in place and curl those around the face outward. This flatters and opens up your face.
Next, do the same routine through each section until all of your hair is curled up. Let it cool completely before applying a texture spray. This allows you to create a natural, sexy look like Meghan’s. After that, lift the top sections of the hair with a volumizing powder by the roots.
Classic Bun
To achieve Meghan’s bun, divide the hair down the middle and do a low ponytail after a smooth blowout. Leave some strands out to frame the face. Next, pinch the hair atop the head while pulling it slightly loose to prevent a super-tight pony. Next, run a texturizing taffy through the pony.
Separate both sections before twisting them together down the length of the pony. Twist the combination around the base of the pony to create the bun shape and secure it with bobby pins. Slightly loosen the bun by pulling the strands out carefully to loosen it up and add more volume as needed.
Use a curling iron to wrap the front sections around the barrel. This allows you to create a loose wave on each side before finishing the look with a texturizing spray. Voila! You have just achieved Meghan Markle’s classic hairstyle look.
