The day has finally arrived, after nearly a year of waiting; the “Game of Thrones” Season 4 premiere is tonight! The episode premieres tonight on HBO at 9 p.m., so get prepared, because the highly anticipated new season is only hours away. Season 4 of “Game of Thrones” begins with episode 1 “Two Swords,” which has a run time of 58 minutes and will reacquaint the audience with what has transpired since we last had a glimpse into the world of Westeros.
The synopsis for “Two Swords” reads, “Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) welcomes a guest to King’s Landing. At Castle Black, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) finds himself unwelcome. Dany (Emilia Clarke) is pointed to Meereen, the mother of all slave cities. Arya (Maisie Williams) runs into an old friend.”
The “Game of Thrones” Season 4 premiere will of course play a bit of a catch up, allowing new viewers and of course, us returning loyalists, to once again be acclimated to the intricate world of Westeros. However, in addition to the recap of Season 3 fans will be treated to the introduction of new characters mostly in King’s Landing. The Martells will surely be introduced, most specifically the Red Viper due to his prominent role in the developing plot in Season 4.
The episode title “Two Swords” reveals more about the relationship between Jaime and Brienne, fans know that they have a complicated history, but after the son of Tywin Lannister pulled Brienne from the bear pit, its safe to say these two are allies upon their arrival back in King’s Landing. But while Jamie may be creating new allies, the rest of the Lannisters are creating new enemies. Tywin feels that he eliminated his enemies after his scheme to slaughter the Starks succeeded, however he didn’t’ consider his youngest sons, Tyrion’s invitation to the Martells that landed his latest enemy literally on his doorstep. Fans have caught a quick glimpse of Oberyn Martell in the Season 4 trailer, but there will be more to the Red Viper than meets the eye.
