With successful back-to-back years, the Fiesta de la Flor music festival is a thing now! The tribute music and arts festival honoring the legacy of the late Selena Quintanllia will be back for its third annual event in 2017.
It has been a bit over two months since fans from all over the world celebrated the Queen of Tejano at this year's festival held in Corpus Christi's North Bayfront Park. In order to get out-of-state Selenaholics planning their flights and trips for next year, organizers have already revealed the dates for 2017.
Both the event's and Selena's official Facebook pages shared the big news to fans Tuesday night. "2017 dates for Fiesta de la Flor have officially been announced! Mark your calendars!" the message said along with the official hashtag #FDLF. The third annual event will be held from March 24 - 25, 2017.
The official announcement, however, was made Friday by Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau. "We are very excited with the success of this event and we are certain that 2017 will be another memorable year for Fiesta de la Flor," Paulette Kluge, CEO of the Corpus Christi Convention and Visitors Bureau, said in a news release.
As tradition holds, the two-day festival will include live performances, giveaways, appearances by the Quintanilla family, music, arts and tons of Selena fans just like you!
Ticket pricing and music lineup have yet to be revealed, but let's keep in mind that the festival is very affordable and has included renowned acts such as La Mafia. Former Los Dinos members, Pete Astudillo and Chris Perez (Selena's widower) have also performed in previous years.
The music festival kicked off in 2015 for Selena's 20th death anniversary. The sold-out inaugural event drew nearly 55,000 fans from all over the world. The second annual festival brought about the same amount of visitors to Corpus Christi. According to Caller Times, the city saw an overall economic impact of about $15 million.
Every year, as the event keeps growing, organizers go all out! The Fiesta de la Flor festival this May included two new venues and Selena-themed public buses making the rounds. We wonder what 2017 will have in stock for fans!
