Microsoft is preparing to launch its first big update for the next-generation Xbox One console. The update is said to improve Kinect voice recognition and add some much needed features. Microsoft has the update slated for Feb. 11, says Xbox Chief Product Offer Marc Whitten in a blog post Wednesday. Xbox One owners can look forward to a battery power indicator for controllers, support for USB keyboards and the option to manage and view storage space.
It has also been revealed that users can also manage how games and apps are downloaded. "We remain incredibly energized and we are aggressively working to make Xbox One better, faster than ever before," writes Whitten in his blog post. The update has been split into two the first being next week and the second update coming in Mar. 4. The second update is said to add improvements to the party and multiplayer systems ahead of the launch for the Xbox One exclusive “Titanfall.”
The upcoming Feb. 11 update marks the first big update for the Xbox One since early December 2013. Regardless of this small updates to the console will occur as time goes on to fix random bugs found after the larger updates. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that Microsoft will announce release dates for upcoming apps for the console such as HBO Go, Spotify and Twitch.tv.
