The last couple of weeks Xbox One console rumors have been in overdrive. Some of the rumors include: a white model, a 1TB hard drive, console bundles with “Forza,” “Sunset Overrive,” and “Titanfall.” It was also reported that a $399 next-gen console would be on the way soon. However, it seems that the latter has been confirmed as untrue. Aaron Greenberg, chief of staff for the Devices and Studios Group at Microsoft, has confirmed via his Twitter that a cheaper Xbox One isn’t happening.
Twitter user The Anchorman V posed the question “Is this $399 xbox one rumor true?” Greenberg answered tweeting, “@TheAnchormanV No, you cannot believe everything you read on the internet..” While the rumor has been officially shot down, for now anyway, It would be in the best interest of Microsoft’s gaming division to make it possible seeing how the biggest hurdle for the next-generation console is the price. Reducing the price of the console to compete with the PS4 would be favorable for sales.
Many gamers view the extra $100 for an Xbox One compared to the PlayStation 4 as not worth the purchase. Of course that could change if Microsoft attaches more exclusive titles to the console along with more indie games. We are sure a price reduction is on the way for the Xbox One but it looks as though unfortunately it won’t be anytime soon.
