Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have remained friends since their split 18 months back, although they don’t get together frequently. The former lovers recently saw each other, but it was far from being a happy reunion. They got together to mourn the loss of Dolly, a dog they shared that had lived with Aniston in Los Angeles after their breakup.

The 50-year-old actress had adopted Dolly before she got together with Theroux. Over the course of their relationship, however, they shared “equal” ownership over all their dogs. The passing of Dolly brought them to the realization that remaining friends is definitely important. “Jen doesn’t want to hold any grudges with anyone anymore, including her exes,” a source told Hollywood Life exclusively.

“So with this loss, she made sure that Justin was involved because they both loved Dolly so much,” continued the source. “It’s very draining to hold such bad vibes about a person and that is why Jen is still friendly with Justin, especially in times of loss, and that is why she also got to a better place with Brad [Pitt].”

In light of their reunion, some may wonder whether or not the two are getting back together or, at the very least, have plans of doing so. “It’s better for everyone to be friendly because they all share common friends and colleagues,” expressed the publication’s source, which is short of an explanation that Aniston and Theroux intend on remaining just friends.

“So it’s good to be a in a good place with everyone and move forward positively, even if a relationship isn’t attached to things. And, speaking of a relationship, this will not rekindle those [romantic] feelings,” continued the source. “They are just friends who honored their great friend, their wonderful dog Dolly.”

On a tangent, ET Online reported that all their dogs are still part of “their family” despite their breakup and differences. According to the publication’s source, “...one thing they were always on the same page about was their dogs.”

“They loved their animals and felt strongly about choosing rescue dogs. No expense was spared; the dogs had great care. People used to joke that the dogs had a better life than they did!” the source added.

The same source also shared that their furry family members would go wherever the couple went, and though they no longer see much of one another, they are still committed to the dogs. “They remain good friends, love their dogs, and have an open-door policy when it comes to their dear pets,” he commented.
