Jennifer Aniston recently reunited with her ex-husband Justin Theroux, but for a heartbreaking reason. The couple, who shares custody of their four dogs, attended the funeral service of their senior dog, Dolly A., this week.
On his Instagram account, Theroux uploaded several photos of his and Aniston’s dog. The snaps reveal that Dolly was laid to rest while wrapped in an animal print cloth. In one of the photos, Dolly is lying on the cloth with his eyes still open.
In another photo, Aniston and Theroux are holding hands. A third photo shows Dolly when she was still alive, and she looks as healthy and as happy as ever.
“Tonight, at sunset, after a heroic struggle … our most loyal family member and protector, Dolly A. laid down her sword and shield,” Theroux captioned the photos. “She was surrounded by her entire family. ‘The one that never deserts, the one that never proves ungrateful … is the dog — faithful and true, even in death.’ -George Vest. Rest In Peace Dolly.”
According to Daily Mail, Dolly A. is one of the four dogs that Aniston and Theroux share custody of. Dolly A. lived with Aniston in Los Angeles, together with their terrier named Clyde. Theroux is taking care of their pit bull mix, Sophie, in New York.
Dolly A. was named after the award-winning singer Dolly Parton, which information Aniston shared during her interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last year. The “Murder Mystery” star and the “Iron Man” actor also refer to their four dogs as children since they don’t have their own kids.
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux were married for two years before they finally called it quits in 2017. But even before they met, Aniston has always been fond of dogs. In fact, during her interview from 10 years ago, she said that men could come and go, but there’s no relationship like the one people have with their dogs.
“It’s a pity that they — the dogs that is — don’t live as long as they should,” she said. “You have to say goodbye way too soon. It makes me so sad. But the love of a dog is unconditional and I really love that. They are real friends,” she added.
