Ricky Martin
has revealed that if he were to get married, he would imagine himself tying the knot in Spain. The Latino singer acquired Spanish citizenship two years ago, leading to speculation that this would lead to a wedding with boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez. However, this rumor has lately floundered as months went by and the singer denied the idea in several interviews. However, in recent comments to EFE magazine, Martin has admitted that he is open to the idea of marriage and that his ideal wedding would take place in Spain.
Ricky Martin revealed his wedding dreams: "If I were to get married, I would love to do it in Spain -- there are spectacular scenes for a great wedding," the singer said during a recent visit to Madrid. The singer also confirmed that part of his reason for acquiring Spanish citizenship was the fact that the country has legalized same-sex marriage. For him, it was "a question of identitiy." However, the singer maintains that Puerto Rico will remain an important part of his life, particularly in the upbringing of his two children whom he wishes to imbue with Puerto Rican roots.
"I had the necessity to go back in order to answer for my kids the question of who we are and where we come from," said the "Livin la Vida Loca" singer. Martin was able to gain Spanish citizenship because of his grandmother. The singer says that "any excuse is good to spend time in Spain."
