Wolverine might be joining the Avengers when he enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). With the “Avengers: Endgame” now out of the way and the Disney/Fox deal inked, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is moving forward with the MCU by offering new takes on iconic “X-Men” and “Fantastic Four” heroes.
“Avengers: Endgame” marked the end of another era for the MCU, but that doesn’t mean that Marvel Studios is no longer bringing something new to the table. In fact, recent reports suggest that the studio has big plans for the MCU now that it already has its hands on the rights to the “X-Men” and “Fantastic Four” franchises.
Although the studio has yet to reveal the details of its plans for the iconic heroes, Marvel is reportedly looking to the comic books and is planning to have Logan a.k.a. Wolverine join the Avengers at some point in the future. Fans of the character’s comic book series know that he was a key part of stories like “Civil War,” “Secret Invasion,” “Siege” and “Age Of Ultron.”
Considering that, it makes a lot of sense to have Wolverine join the Avengers in the MCU. The character has also stood alongside the Avengers many times in the comic books, so it shouldn’t be surprising to anyone when it finally happens on the big screen.
Now that the Disney/Fox deal has already been inked, Marvel fans can expect future crossovers in the vast universe of the MCU. According to reports, the plan is to introduce first the popular superhero, Wolverine, into the MCU on his own. Before he enlists to the Avengers, Marvel will present him as a member of the X-Men before the studio continues his role in the other franchise.
According to reports, Wolverine’s future role in the MCU does not mean that he’s going to leave the other X-Men mutants behind. The character will reportedly play a role on both teams, functioning as the powerful mutant with retractable claws in both the MCU and the X-Men narratives.
Although the crossover is an incredible plan to look forward to, fans cannot expect Wolverine to be part of the MCU in the near future. In a previous interview, Feige said that it would take at least another five years to have X-Men characters join the MCU as they need more time to cook up their plans.
