Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have always lived together ever since they divorced in 1996. This is why royal fans don’t understand why there was a need for them to legally end their marriage in the first place.
Laura Warwick, a former fundraiser, shared her thoughts on the issue by saying that Prince Andrew was left with no other choice but to divorce Sarah amid her highly publicized affair with her business manager. Photos of the business tycoon sucking the Duchess of York’s toe were also published in newspapers.
Royal fan Andres Simpson said that several years ago, reports were centered more on Sarah divorcing the royal family and not Prince Andrew. After all, the parents of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie really loved each other deeply.
“I don’t think she ever stopped loving Andrew but I think she struggled a lot with the constraints and rules of the royal family,” she said. “She and Andrew stayed in the large house they shared when the children were small, but she has an apartment in New York too,” she added.
Nigel Boon, a retired member of the Church of England, said that even though the Duke and Duchess of York may have lived in the same apartment, the property was so huge that they couldn’t have stayed in the same room. While at the Royal Lodge, Prince Andrew and Sarah most likely went about their day-to-day activities on their own.
Arlene B. Heed, who has read a lot of books about the royal family, said that Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson had to divorce because the latter embarrassed Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Sarah also placed her daughters in a compromising situation by having a fling with another man who is not their dad.
But Michael Agyeman said that the only way to know the real answer to why Prince Andrew and Sarah are still living together even after their divorce could only come from them. Throughout the years, the former couple has also maintained an amicable relationship with each other. They were last seen at the Royal Ascot last week.
