The polarization of the U.S. presidential election has spilled beyond American borders and into the realm of Thailand's internationally celebrated sensation, Moo Deng, who now faces backlash after predicting a Donald Trump victory.

Moo Deng, a pygmy hippopotamus who skyrocketed to internet fame in September, was presented with two cakes in her enclosure. One cake had "Donald Trump" written on it, the other, "Kamala Harris."

Moo Deng's mother approached the cakes first, digging into the "Harris" cake. Moo Deng, who has shown no evidence of literacy, munched the "Trump" cake. According to the exercise's playful premise, Moo Deng predicts Trump will win.

Reactions to Moo Deng's so-called presidential pick showed just how fickle fame can be, with an onslaught of comments calling for an end to Moo Deng's reign over the internet.

Her integrity was questioned.

Threats ranged from thinly veiled to overtly violent.

But many came to Moo Deng's defense.

Devotees pointed out her tender age.

Or offered alternate explanations for why Moo Deng might have chosen the Trump cake.

Others had rational arguments for why Moo Deng's cancellation was completely unnecessary.

Or at least wished her luck in the cut throat world of internet fame.

Moo Deng has offered no additional commentary on the presidential election.

Meanwhile, the American people anxiously await official election results that will either prove or disprove Moo Deng's prediction.
