Following Alcide’s shocking death on last night’s “True Blood” many fans thought that we had seen the last of Sookie’s werewolf boyfriend once he took a bullet to the head but we may have been wrong. Joe Manganiello, the actor who portrays Alcide Herveaux on “True Blood” revealed that despite his character’s death in “Fire in the Hole” he has started writing a potential “True Blood” spinoff project. In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Manganiello admitted that he would like to reprise his role in a different medium, either a new series or a feature film. "I'd love to play Alcide again," he said. "In fact, a year ago I started writing a story for an Alcide movie, or comic book series.”
Continuing, he said that “"I would love to return maybe in a movie. I would love to do it again." It seems like Manganiello is still invested in his role explaining that there is a lot “left on the table that wasn’t explored.” Alcide was introduced in the third season and played a major character in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth season, however the show has a large ensemble cast, meaning that the full Alcide storyline was never fully uncovered.
While being considered a major character, Manganiello seems to be a bit disgruntled regarding his character lack of screen time before his tragic death. He said, “At the end of the day, the show had nothing to do with my character for a few years. So I think there's a lot more left to explore, I love the character.”
Despite Manganiello’s belief that there is still more of Alcide’s story left to tell, “True Blood” will come to an end after an impressive 7 season run. When asked if the HBO series should continue or not, Manganiello told Digital Spy he agrees with the network’s decision to finish following this season.
"I think it's the right time. I think any longer then it would have been -- excuse the pun -- squeezing blood from a stone." What do you think about the possibility of a “True Blood” spinoff series or movie? Would you watch? Comment below and let us know!
