Find out what each project is about below and tell us which telenovela sounds the most exciting!
El Chema: A spin-off of the wildly popular series “El Señor de los Cielos” starring Mauricio Ochmann, is the story of Chema Venegas’ first years working in Mexico’s world of organized crime and his ascension until becoming the renowned cartel leader seen in “El Señor de los Cielos.” Chema began committing crimes as a child, transporting marijuana in his backpack from one side of the border to the other. He worked his way up to being a hit man and then a skillful boss who left a trail of blood everywhere he went, and he eventually became one of the most wanted drug lords, always outsmarting authorities. The story also narrates the various romantic relationships that forever marked Chema and turned him into the despicable human being he became, from his first failed relationship as a young man to his obsessive relationship with Rutila Casillas, daughter of his nemesis, Aurelio Casillas (El Señor de los Cielos).
“Hugo Chavez, El Comandante” (Hugo Chavez, The Commander): Starring Andres Parra, the series is a fictional story inspired on the life of Hugo Chavez, a man of humble origins, who at 44 years of age and against all odds, became the most powerful and controversial Latin American leader of his time. During his leadership, Hugo managed to challenge the world and control its largest oil reserves.
“El Señor de los Cielos” Season 5: Starring Rafael Amaya, Fernanda Castillo and Carmen Aub, the show will follow Aurelio Casillas as he unleashes a war in Mexico, but this time not against the government, the DEA or other cartels, but against his own family.
“Señora Acero 3, La Coyote”: The third season of the successful “Señora Acero” Super Series franchise, starring Sergio Goyri, Carolina Miranda and Luis Ernesto Franco, narrates the story of Vicenta Rigores, a courageous and rebellious woman, who stands out in the male-dominated world of smuggling as the most feared and notorious coyote on the U.S.-Mexican border. Because Vicenta understands that the only crime most immigrants commit is having been born on the wrong side of the line dividing the two countries, she is willing to risk her own life to protect them. Vicenta hates the drug traffickers that infest the border region, never suspecting that she is directly related to one of Mexico’s most powerful drug trafficking families – she is the illegitimate daughter of Vicente Acero, the father of Salvador Acero, the sole heir, until now, to the Acero dynasty.
“La Querida del Centauro” Season 2: Starring Humberto Zurita, Ludwika Paleta, Michel Brown and Sandra Echeverria, the series will tell the story of Centauro’s revenge on Yolanda, his former mistress, and Gerardo, the detective who sought to bring him to justice. After being on the run from the authorities for two years and tired of the bloody war between his cartel and his rival’s, Centauro decides to fake his and his son’s deaths. This way, he will be able to rebuild his empire without the police after him, and, more importantly, allow him to carry out his plan for vengeance. Upon hearing the news of the deaths, Yolanda and her daughter Cristina, as well as Gerardo and his adoptive son, Gato, are able to return to Mexico from Canada, where they have been living under the Witness Protection Program. But it will not be an easy return for Yolanda, as el Centauro will use all of his cunning and power to destroy her and her loved ones in his quest for revenge.
“La Doña” (The Mrs.): Based on Doña Barbara, the literary work by Romulo Gallegos, La Doña is a story of revenge and ambition, seduction and betrayal; all told from the perspective of an offended and abused woman named Altagracia. Altagracia represents the hundreds of thousands of Mexican women who have been victims of the violence by faceless men who are protected by impunity. But Altagracia, transformed into a strong-willed, ruthless man-eater known as La Doña, will seek out each and every one of these men to bring them to justice. The series will star Aracely Arambula and David Chocarro.
“Sin Senos Sí Hay Paraíso”: The sequel to one of Telemundo’s highest-rated novelas, “Sin Senos No Hay Paraíso,” tells the story of Catalina “La pequeña” (the small one), who seeks to redeem her family from the world of violence and prostitution that has brought them so much loss and misery. Starring Fabian Rios, Catherine Siachoque and Carolina Gaitan, the new story reflects the reality of a new generation of women determined to succeed in life without resorting to plastic surgery or falling for the lure of easy money.
“Guerra de Idolos” (War of Idols): The series follows the story of the Solar family and superstar Julio Cesar Solar, a regional Mexican music idol, whose death is the spark that ignites this story of betrayal, rivalry, love and the search for fame at any cost. Set in a world of stunning ranches, parties, private jets and recording studios, “Guerra de Idolos” showcases the lives of those who manage and control the Latin music business in the U.S. from coast to coast.
“La Fan” (The Fan): written by Marcela Citterio, inspired by an idea from Angelica Vale, La Fan is the comedic story of a cheerful and humble woman who is the ultimate fan of famous telenovela actor, Lucas Duarte. People say one cannot escape one’s fate. People say we all have a story that is already written and nothing can change it. People say that what if something starts badly, it will end badly. People who say those things, do not know her. By a twist of fate, she will literally collide into Lucas Duarte’s life, and despite every attempt, he will not be able to escape her blind adoration. Lucas will reluctantly begin to realize that he needs her and cannot imagine his life without her, as she begins to see that he is not the perfect leading man she thought he has.
“Silvana Sin Lana": Starring Carlos Ponce, Maritza Rodriguez and Adriana Barraza, the series is a romantic comedy that tells the story of Silvana, a wealthy woman who loses everything and is forced to move with her mother and three daughters to a working-class neighborhood. There, she meets Manuel, a fishmonger with a strong dislike for snobby people who look down on folks like him. Manuel and his four children will need to do the impossible in order to get along with their new neighbors. However, an irresistible attraction begins to brew between Silvana and Manuel, making the situation even more intolerable for their families.
