After focusing on furthering her movie career it looks like Selena Gomez is ready to tackle the small screen again. According to Variety Netflix is set to adapt the best-selling young adult novel "13 Reasons Why" as a 13-episode series with Selena Gomez at the helm as an executive producer.
The show, based on the New York Times bestselling YA book by Jay Asher, was created by Pulitzer Prize winner Brian Yorkey, who also wrote the pilot reports Deadline. While it hasn't been confirmed many reports are suggesting Gomez will play a high school student who commits suicide in the series. She leaves behind 13 cassette tapes, each one detailing how a specific person contributed to her death.
Along with Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, Kristel Laiblin and Anonymous Content also will executive produce the Netflix series "13 Reasons Why."
Gomez recently wrapped a handful of films including "In Dubious Battle," directed by James Franco, "The Revisited Fundamentals Of Caregiving" alongside Paul Rudd, "The Big Short" starring Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling and Christian Bale and Seth Rogan's "Neighbors 2." Gomez most recently reprised her role in the family film "Hotel Transylvania 2."
We'll bring you more details about "13 Reasons Why" as it becomes available.
