When Jaguar's design director Ian Callum described the upcoming Jaguar F-Type sports car, he said, "We can afford to be as fearless as we want with this car. This is our car, and our time."
Finally, Jaguar has confirmed that the production F-Type will officially unveil at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.
More compact and sporting than the grand touring XK coupe, the 911 fighting F-type is expected to offer three distinct motors. The base motor will be a respectable 3.0 liter V6 engine producing 340-hp. Next, a slightly tuned variant will offer 380-hp. Finally, the range topping powerplant will be a supercharged 5.0 liter V8 that delivers 500-hp.
Despite a standard 5.0 liter supercharged V8 engine's reputation for irresponsible pollution, the F-Type does its part well to provide better fuel economy and eco-consciousness also. The F-type will feature an all-new, lightweight, all-aluminum chassis and will feature an advanced 8-speed automatic transmission as well as stop-start technology.
According to Jaguar Global Brand Director Adrian Hallmark, "The unveiling of the F-TYPE in Paris will be a truly significant day in Jaguar's history as it will mark the company's return to the sports car market, a market it originally helped to create. As its sporting forebears did in their era, the F-TYPE will break new ground by delivering stunning sports car performance while vividly demonstrating Jaguar's cutting-edge engineering technologies and world-class design excellence. The next step in Jaguar's sporting bloodline is about to become reality."
Look out for the Jaguar F-Type coupe and convertible at the Paris Motor Show later in September.
