On Tuesday, Mexican magazine TVnotas reported Alejandro Fernández had to be hospitalized in Puerto Vallarta last week after a jaguar bit his leg. According to the publication, the infection suffered from the injury was extremely dangerous and the singer was close to loosing his limb.
Was “El Potrillo” bitten by a dangerous feline? The answer is no.
On Wednesday morning, the 45-year-old crooner released a press communicate in which he admitted he was bitten, but not by a wild cat.
“They say a dog is a man’s best friend and my dogs are my greatest treasures, they are my family,” said Fernández. “I am aware that ‘Kush’s’ [his dog] bite was an accident, we were playing. I love my dogs and I want to give them all the best.”
He continued, “After this sad episode, I have been thinking a lot. I realized that life is so fragile and it can fade away any minute. We only have one life and it’s up to us to make it wonderful, which is why I thank life itself for letting be with my family one more day, and of course, my beloved audience. I know I have many reasons to keep fighting for and I will continue to get better. There will be Alejandro for many more years.”
Star Productions, the singer’s management company, explained the accident happened about 20 days ago and after trying to heal the wound with local remedies, the infection got worse. It was then that Fernández had to be rushed to Hospital San Javier, where they treated the injury accordingly.
Recent reports revealed the consequences of what looked like “just another dog bite” could have been fatal if Fernandez had waited any longer to seek for professional help.
Due to the gravity of the situation, “El Potrillo” was forced to cancel several concert dates but is still scheduled to perform in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on June 11.
