Ever since it was revealed in 2020 that Daniel Craig would end his 16-yearlong James Bond career, the big question on everyone’s mind is who will be the next James Bond.
Several names have been tossed in the ring, but here are five actors who we believe have the best odds of securing the role of 007.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson
It was recently reported that the “Bullet Train” actor will play James Bond. According to inside sources, a mini-trailer will be released sometime in the spring, showing Taylor-Johnson in the famous Bond shot.
Taylor-Johnson is no stranger to action starring in fast-paced films such as “Avengers: Age of Ultron” as Quicksilver and “Kick-Ass” as Dave Lizewski. He has also shown his smoother side in spy-like action films like “The King’s Man.”
This news has not been confirmed, but we could be seeing the 32-year-old actor filling this iconic role.
Chiwetel Ejiofor
The world first became widely familiar with the 44-year-old actor after his knock-out performance in “12 Years A Slave.” The UK native has done several movies before and after this film showcasing his character range.
In “The Lion King,” we see Chiwetel Ejiofor as the cold, calm and calculating villain Scar and in movies like “The Martian,” we see him as a Dr. Vincent Kapoor, a smart heroine.
Ejiofor has also demonstrated his capacity for action in movies like “Doctor Strange” and “Infinite.”
With a resume like this, we can see the Oscar nominee becoming the next Bond.
Idris Elba
Idris Elba has displayed his capacity for action-packed fights in movies like “The Suicide Squad” and “Takers.”
In the BBC series “Luther,” we see Elba’s detective and sleuthing skills, and although Luther is for lack of a better term a hot mess at times, he always got the job done like Bond.
Elba’s unique brand of swag combined with his acting chops is what pushed the London-born actor into the James Bond conversation in the first place.
It also doesn’t hurt that women are just as attracted to 2018’s Sexiest Man Alive as they are the smooth and sophisticated 007.
Henry Cavill
“The Man from UNCLE” with Henry Cavill staring as a suave CIA agent is basically the perfect audition tape for James Bond.
Cavill plays CIA Agent Napoleon Solo who is on a mission to stop a criminal organization creating nuclear weapons. Sound familiar? If that’s not enough action, the 39-year-old actor was also filled the role of arguably the strongest superhero ever, Superman, in “Man of Steel.” In the superhero flick, Cavill brings a calm and serious vibe to the character that could be perfect for the role of James Bond.
Cavill also has the looks needed to attract any Bond girl.
Cillian Murphy
Cillian Murphy is another contender who has been discussed for the role of James Bond. What has really propelled him in the conversation is his work on the hit show “Peaky Blinders.” Murphy demonstrates his cunning, coolness and ability to go toe to toe with anyone as Gangster Thomas Shelby.
So, if Murphy can trade his “Peaky Blinders” 1900s suit and Webley Revolver for a modern tux and silencer, the Irish actor has a good chance of becoming the next James Bond.
