Zayn Malik has confirmed his engagement to Little Mix's Perrie Edwards. Malik's soon-to-be mother-in-law, Deborah, confirmed the news on Real Radio. "Yes, it's true. They got engaged on Sunday and it's absolutely lovely. It's been wonderful because Zayn is absolutely gorgeous and Perrie loves him to pieces. It's just perfect and they get on so well together. It's just fabulous," said Deborah.

At a press junket for One Direction's movie, "This Is Us," the boyband member confirmed the news when the reporter congratulated him on his engagement. Malik gushed and said "Thank you very much." The Capital FM presenter gave Zayn a bouquet of flowers and asked how it felt to be engaged to Perrie to which he replied, "It's cool and we're really happy."

The news comes a day after the musical group presented their documentary in London on Leicester Square amongst a massive "Directioners" turn out. Malik and Edwards met on the set of "The X-Factor U.K." when Perrie was a contestant of the show and eventually won the series with her group Little Mix. The couple has faced a rocky road after rumors of a possible third person involved on numerous occassions, but their relationship has been stronger than any tabloid headline.

Fans of One Direction have mix reactions, with most congratulating the couple for their engagement and making #CongratsZaynAndPerrie trend on Twitter. Another sector is in complete shambles as their idol is headed down the aisle with another woman that is not them, breaking any hope the've had with the singer.

The happy couple has not set a date for the wedding and according to Deborah, it might not happen for a while. "They'll wait 'til 2014, 2015...One Direction are doing so much and Little Mix are the same, they're out of the country most the time doing their promotion for this, that and the other, so it's just unbelievable. But I think they will eventually get together and set the date."
