The Philadelphia 76ers have a long offseason ahead and there will be players on the move. And it appears that among those players will include three-time NBA champion Danny Green.
According to sources cited by Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, Philly is allegedly considering trading away Green and the rights to their first-round pick for the 2022 NBA Draft.
However, there could be more assets included if the Sixers are handed a tempting deal. The only thing certain for Philly right now is that the only players untouchable are Joel Embiid and James Harden. It is possible that head coach Doc Rivers would be targeting a third superstar to play alongside Embiid and Harden for the 2022-23 NBA wars.
Another player most likely to be kept is Tyrese Maxey. He had a great second NBA season with the 76ers, averaging 17.5 points, 4.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game in the regular season. He was also a key contributor to the Sixers’ 2021-22 playoff run.
Green is a tested veteran but is already 34-years-old. Also, injuries have been preventing him from playing in some Sixers’ games.
Harden, who did not exactly have a great 2021-22 season, split the season and initially played for the Brooklyn Nets before moving to Philly.
Regardless, his ties with Sixers executive Daryl Morey are likely to factor in with his potential stay in Philadelphia. Although he was hardly felt, “The Beard” is expected to bounce back next NBA season and recall his old form.
As for the Sixers, who own the rights to the 23rd pick in the 2022 NBA Draft set for June 23, pundits forecast them to possibly consider young guards.
One name that Philly could select is Tari Eason of LSU, Jalen Williams of Santa Clara or even Blake Wesley of Notre Dame, NBC Sports reported.
