"Naruto Shippuden" Chapter 699/700 was published on the Nov. 10 Issue #50 of Weekly Shonen Jump, marking the end of one of the most popular mangas ever created. However, earlier this month, "Naruto" creator Masashi Kisimoto also announced that there is a mini-sequel manga to "Naruto Shippuden."
Details surrounding the mini-sequel are limited, but according to Japanese site My Game News Flash, the sequel may focus on a new generation of Shinobi as rumors suggest Naruto and Hinata will have two children, a son and a daughter. Hinata and Naruto's son will be named Bolt, or Boruto, a pun on Naruto. Hinata and Naruto's daughter is named "Himawari," which is "sunflower" in Japanese. What's more, Saiyan Island also predicted a similar storyline and reports that Part 3 will focus on the children of Naruto, Hinata, Sakura, as well as others.
Additionally, according to Anime News Network, Masashi Kishimoto discussed the future mini-series with "Entermix" magazine. The January featuring the interview with the Naruto manga creator will be published on Friday. Anime News Network also reported that Kishimoto announced that he will start the new Naruto spinoff manga mini-series in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine next spring. "Entermix" magazine specified that the mini-series will launch on April 2015. While multiple reports confirm that the upcoming manga will be significantly shorter than "Naruto" and "Naruto Shippuden," Kishimoto has not discussed the projected number of books or chapters for the new series.
The "Naruto" mini-sequel is one of the many plans that Masashi Kishimoto has for his grand "Naruto Shin Jidai Kaimaku Project" (Naruto's New Era Opening Project), which includes a full-length animated movie called "The Last: Naruto The Movie," as well as a sequel "Naruto" anime series based on Hinati and Hanabi Hyuga. Stay tuned as both the movie and the sequel anime series are slated for a December release.
It will only be a matter of time before "Naruto Shin Jidai Kaimaku Project" will end as well. Apparently, Masashi Kishimoto already has plans for life after "Naruto." Following the official completion of the Naruto franchise by next summer, Kishimoto will begin his next all-new manga title. At the age of 40, Kishimoto also expressed his wishes to spend more time with his family and to play with his child.
