Monica Spear, the Telemundo actress and former Miss Venezuela, was shot to death with her ex-husband, Henry Thomas Berry, on a highway in Venezuela Monday night. The incident happened on the Puerto Cabello-Valencia highway in Venezuela on Monday night when they were involved in an accident. Police reports state that unknown assailants approached the vehicle and attempted to assault the family, when they failed they shot the couple to death with Maya receiving only a wound on her leg from a shot. Spear and Thomas will have services open to the public in Venezuela and buried at around 10am on Friday.
Maya, Spear and Thomas' 5-year-old daughter, survived the attacks but it unaware that her parents have died. Ricardo Spear, Monica's brother, told media that her niece doesn't know her parents passed away. "She suffered a wound on her leg. She doesn't know about the situation. She doesn't know that her parents have died and were killed," he said. "She doesn't know that she was shot. I imagine that Monica in trying to protect her, grabbed her briskly and she thinks that her mother hit her."
Mónica Spear's last project on television was in the telenovela "Pasión Prohibida" where she co-starred with Rebecca Jones, Roberto Vander and Jencarlos Canela. The latter wrote on Twitter, "I am without words. I will miss you friend. And to my lovely and beautiful Maya, I love you. You are not alone!" Roberto Vander who also co-starred with Spear wrote, "I am shocked and without words, only tears of saddness and anger. May you reast in peace my dear Monica Spear." Roberto Manrique who worked with her on "Flor Salvaje" said, "Moni, may all the light that you left in this world take you with peace to your destination. You are in my heart and everyone elses."
