During Blake Shelton’s “Healing in the Heartland” NBC concert special, his wife of two years, Miranda Lambert was so overcome with emotion she struggled to finish her performance and cried while on stage.
“Healing in the Heartland” benefited the victims of the Oklahoma tornado, tickets for the charitable even sold out in less than five minutes. The proceeds were sent to the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund.
Miranda was performing her song “The House That Built Me,” which she dedicated to the animals affected by the storm, but had to stop midway through. The dedicated animal lover is originally from Texas but moved to her husband’s native Oklahoma following their marriage, therefore her emotional reaction to the tragedy was not surprising.
Shelton closed the show with a “moving” duet of “Home” with fellow "Voice" coach Usher. Shelton was born in Ada, Oklahoma and now lives in reside in the small town of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, which is located in the Texoma area.
Miranda is a dedicated animal advocate, she uses her personal twitter to contact animal shelters, assist with dog adoptions and find loving homes for several stray animals she finds around her home.
