The Cubs are in the World Series. The Bears beat the Vikings on Monday Night Football. The Blackhawks are playing well. The Bulls are 3-0 to start their season. Everything is good in Chicago, right?
Unfortunately for sports fans in the Windy City, they received some bad news on Tuesday pertaining to their backup point guard. According to ESPN, Michael Carter-Williams has a bone bruise in his left knee, and he is expected to miss three to four weeks.
This is Carter-Williams’ first year with the Bulls after he was recently traded from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Tony Smell. This won’t change things much for the Bulls as Rajon Rondo, who is one of the best pure passers in the game, will still be the teams premier point guard going forward. The Bulls will just have to adapt and get better bench production for the time being.
Although a bone bruise is not what Bulls fans want to hear right now, this is somewhat relieving news. It was originally feared that Williams’ injury may have been a torn ACL, which would have pretty much ended his season. Thankfully, that’s not the case. It’s also important to note that Williams is currently dealing with a sprained wrist so this is a good time for him to get healthy.
Williams is scheduled to become a restricted free agent after this season with a qualifying offer worth $4.35 million.
The Bulls are fresh off a 20-point romping of the Brooklyn Nets and they’ve got a date with the Boston Celtics tomorrow night.
