Syracuse women's basketball coach Felisha Legette-Jack expressed frustration with her team's performance and the lack of fan support following a narrow 73-70 loss to Albany on Wednesday.
"Nobody cares about our program, nobody cares about women's basketball," Legette-Jack said during an emotional post-game press conference. She criticized the low attendance, with just over 2,000 fans in a stadium that can hold more than 30,000.
"I'm disappointed in my fanbase here," she added. "This is supposed to be home, prove it. This is ridiculous."
Legette-Jack challenged her players to stay focused on the court despite the sparse crowd. "We got to be so locked into us that we don't see that the fan base is like 12 people here."
The loss came after the Orange blew a 14-point lead, but Legette-Jack took responsibility for her team's preparation. "This one is on me. We have to figure out how to get better and get them more prepared."
Before leaving the podium, the Syracuse native called on the community to support the program, expressing disappointment in what she felt was a lack of respect for her and her players.
