An edited image of former U.S. First Lady Melania Trump holding a shovel while standing on top of her husband Donald Trump's first wife Ivana Trump’s grave is being widely shared online.
The photograph shows Melania standing over a grave marked “Ivana Trump.” It has a sign behind her that reads “Trump National Cemetery." The text in one post reads that it is truly one of the "sickest images of late." It further reads that Melania burying Ivana on the New Jersey Trump Golf course because "they are all dead inside already." The user points out that burying someone on your land is an age old tax scam, and that the entire property "gets lower tax rates. An amazing dodge used by the rich.”
The photo clearly appears to have been digitally edited, with a lack of shadows and strange lighting around Melania’s outline, reported Reuters. But it seems like not everyone could figure out that it was edited. One comment on the posts included, “Is this for real?” Some found it "sick, so sad to be smiling at someone’s grave like that." Slamming her, one social media user said that "these people are truly twisted.” Another said that Melania is "probably dancing on her grave! How sick is that! Not surprised though!"
When the original photograph of the former First Lady was posted online, the caption read that Melania turned soil with a "ceremonial shovel at the groundbreaking ceremony for the White House Tennis Pavilion." It happened on Oct. 8, 2019 on the south grounds of the White House. It was an official White House photo by Andrea Hanks. So, clearly the image showing her holding a shovel while standing on top of Ivana's grave had been digitally altered.
No official images of the grave site had been publicly shared by the Trump family. As for Ivana's funeral, it was held at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in New York on July 20 just days after her death. The businesswoman and TV personality died at age 73 in her New York City apartment on July 14. Her death was a result of an accident. She suffered blunt force trauma injuries to her torso, the New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner revealed.
