Meghan's Friend Priyanka Chopra Appears To Ignore William And Kate's Presence At Wimbledon

Priyanka Chopra fans and the media are feasting over reports and footage posted all over the internet, after cameras captured the Indian actress seemingly unattentive when Prince William and Kate Middleton arrived at the royal box at the Wimbledon Women’s Finals last Saturday. Various reports have implied the former Miss World purposely snubbed the royal couple by not clapping when they walked in and headed to their seats.

According to the Indian Express, the crowd cheered and clapped as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made their way through the row of seats. However, a video circulating showed an unconcerned Priyanka, who was seated only two rows behind the royal couple, was focused on fussing over her scarf instead of joining the crowd to applaud William and Kate. She then looks away and begins to chat with another woman seated next to her.

Said to be friends with Meghan Markle, some believe the viral video that captured Priyanka’s reaction was a clear indication of an alleged but obvious snub from the Bollywood actress. This, many have analyzed, was her subtle retaliation to a video released in 2018 of William fixated on his scarf instead of speaking to Meghan as the Royal Family was walking out of church in Sandringham at Christmas that same year.

The apparent snub, Priyanka's fans say, does not seem like it could have been a mere coincidence as the actress was again caught avoiding eye contact with the royals as published photos captured the couple and the actress on the Center Court balcony. Being a longtime gal pal to Meghan, Priyanka seemed to have chosen to mingle with other VIP guests.

While many speculate this to be Priyanka's manner of standing up for her friend, rumors of a falling out between the two actress buddies were the talk of tinseltown in 2019. Brewing whispers honed in at Meghan’s failure to attend Priyinka and Nick Jonas’ grand 3-day wedding was the reason behind the rumor. Priyanka’s absence at Meghan’s baby shower hosted by George and Amal Clooney made it seem even more probable the two were not in speaking terms.

Later that year, Priyanka shut down the rumors and said this was not true.

Priyanka was also noted for standing alongside her friend in 2017 when she appeared on the Wendy Williams show. The chat show host had referred to the former "Suits" star as “Prince Harry’s girlfriend," and Priyanka made it clear to Williams that there was more to Meghan than just being Harry’s girlfriend.

Meghan has been on the royal hot seat following her explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey where she revealed allegations of racism during her time as a senior members of the Royal Family. Things got even more tense between William and younger brother Harry following the Duke of Sussex's resignation from The Firm last year.
