Priyanka Chopra and Meghan Markle remain close friends despite rumors of a feud brewing between the two actresses. Last week, it was reported that Chopra mended the rift in their friendship after a visit to Meghan and Prince Harry’s baby to give gifts. However, the actress has denied both the feud and the visit, again adding to her numerous attempts to stem the rumors of their alleged falling out.

Chopra once again sets the record straight after The Sun’s claim that she ended the feud rumors after gifting some Tiffany & Co. items in a visit to Baby Archie. She slammed the report and it’s publisher last Friday, quipping that although it’s a “great gift idea,” she added that the publisher should work on its fact checking.

“While these are great gift ideas … this story is untrue, and I was actually in town for work,” wrote the 36-year-old actress in her post via Twitter. “I hope whoever this ‘source’ is starts checking their facts more often,” she added.

Contrary to the negative gossip circulating about their friendship, Chopra has only good things to say about her beloved friend Meghan. Recalling how they became friends, she fondly retold how they really connected as women, and how they share the same opinions on activism, feminism and race. She also described Meghan as “progressive” and “stunning” but “so completely herself.”

“You can have work friendships, those are different,” Chopra said in an interview with People. “But when you have real friendships, like ours, it doesn’t matter what people look at you as or where your world goes, you sort of just, stay friends. And I think that’s what we’re like.”

The actress also staunchly defended her friend, especially after the numerous derogatory remarks thrown around when Meghan and Harry went public in 2017. The duchess also went under fire from the media about an alleged “difficult behaviour.” Chopra, however, believes this to be a result of Meghan’s biracial lineage.

“Of course it has to do with racism, it's an obvious reason,” says Chopra in an interview. “But the beauty of Meg is that she's been herself through all of this.”

The star applauded Meghan’s “authenticity” and how her friend’s current status provides the perfect platform to affect change. “Now that she's got a real platform, she talks about the same things she always did,” she continued.

“We spent hours speaking about the difference that influence and dialogue can make to the world before this whole thing happened, so what you see now is authentically her. She's always been the girl wanting to move the needle.”
