The Mega Millions jackpot has risen to a staggering $102 million after no one won the grand prize during the drawing held on Friday, Feb. 25.
The winning numbers that came up for the Mega Million drawing held on Friday, Feb. 25, were 15, 31, 40, 56, and 66 with the Megaball being 4 and the Megaplier being 3x. However, since no one matched all six numbers in the draw, the jackpot has grown to a massive $102 million ahead of the drawing to be held on late Tuesday, March. 1, Fox 19 reported.
The grand prize for Tuesday night's draw will be $102 million with a cash option of $67.7 million.
The drawing held on Friday was the eighth draw since a player matched all six numbers in the Mega Millions lottery to win a mammoth $421-million jackpot at the end of January in California. The $421-million jackpot-winning Mega Millions lottery ticket was reportedly sold at a Chevron gas station located in the 6000 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard in California. The winning digits drawn were 3, 16, 25, 44, 55, and the Mega number 13.
A Mega Millions ticket costs $2 per stub and is drawn twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. Mega Millions lottery players choose six numbers from two separate pools of numbers: five different numbers from 1 to 70 and one number from 1 to 25. In order to win the jackpot, a player has to match all these six numbers with the digits that come up in the drawing.
The largest Mega Millions jackpot in history stood at an unbelievable $1.537 billion and was won in South Carolina on Oct. 23, 2018.
If you win a Mega Millions lottery prize, you can take either take the annuity option, where a winner is paid out one immediate payment followed by 29 annual remittances, with each payment being 5 percent larger than the previous payout.
The winner can also choose a cash option, which is a one-time, lump-sum payment equal to all the cash in the Mega Millions jackpot prize pool.
According to the California Lottery, the odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number and winning the Mega Million jackpot is 1 in 302,575,350. The Mega Millions game is played in 45 states, as well as the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
