The Mega Millions Jackpot has risen to at least $75 million ahead of the drawing to be held on late Tuesday, Feb. 22.
After no players matched the winning numbers for the Mega Millions draw held on Friday, Feb. 18, the jackpot has increased to a massive $75 million for the Tuesday night draw. The winning numbers of Friday's drawing were 6, 11, 50, 63, and 68. The Megaplier was 4x and the Mega Ball was 17, FOX 8 News reported.
The last Mega Millions jackpot was won when the top prize reached a staggering amount of $421 million at the end of January in California. The $421-million jackpot-winning Mega Millions lottery ticket was reportedly sold at a Chevron gas station located in the 6000 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard in California. The winning digits drawn were 3, 16, 25, 44, 55, and the Mega number 13.
Meanwhile, a ticket sold in Ohio, which had included the optional Megaplier 3X also won a prize amount of $3 million. The previous Mega Millions Jackpot jackpot had been rolling since an Arizona family matched all six numbers in the drawing to claim a $108-million prize on Oct. 22, 2021.
A Mega Millions ticket costs $2 per stub and is drawn twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m.
Mega Millions lottery players choose six numbers from two separate pools of numbers: five different numbers from 1 to 70 and one number from 1 to 25. In order to win the jackpot, a player has to match all these six numbers with the digits that come up in the drawing.
The largest Mega Millions jackpot in history stood at an unbelievable $1.537 billion and was won in South Carolina on Oct. 23, 2018.
Meanwhile, the Powerball jackpot currently stands at an estimated $37 million for the drawing on Monday, Feb. 21 with a cash-value option worth $24.8 million, Cleveland.com reported.
Even though there was no grand prize winner on Saturday, a ticket sold in Florida matched all first five white balls, excluding the red Powerball, and won the game's second prize of $1 million.
Powerball draws are now held thrice a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot, which is played in about 44 states, is about 1 in 292 million.
