The Mega Millions jackpot has grown to at least $87 million after nobody won the top prize during the drawing held on Tuesday, Feb. 22.
After no tickets matched all six numbers to win the jackpot in the Mega Millions lottery draw held on Tuesday, the estimated jackpot for the Friday, Feb. 25, drawing has swelled to a massive $87 million.
The winning numbers for Tuesday's draw were 6, 17, 22, 57, 62. Meanwhile, the Mega number was 3, with an estimated jackpot of $75 million, Magnolia Reporter reported.
According to the Multi-State Lottery Association, which oversees the game, also no tickets matched all five numbers to win the $1-million secondary prize on Tuesday as well. However, there were three Match 4 winners of $500 in Arkansas, four Match 3 and Megaball winners of $200, and one Match 3 + Megaball + Megaplier winner of $600.
The Tuesday drawing was the seventh draw since a player matched all six numbers in the Mega Millions lottery to win a staggering $421 million at the end of January in California. The $421-million jackpot-winning Mega Millions lottery ticket was reportedly sold at a Chevron gas station located in the 6000 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard in California. The winning digits drawn were 3, 16, 25, 44, 55, and the Mega number 13.
A Mega Millions ticket costs $2 per stub and is drawn twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11 p.m. Mega Millions lottery players choose six numbers from two separate pools of numbers: five different numbers from 1 to 70 and one number from 1 to 25. In order to win the jackpot, a player has to match all these six numbers with the digits that come up in the drawing.
The largest Mega Millions jackpot in history stood at an unbelievable $1.537 billion and was won in South Carolina on Oct. 23, 2018.
According to the California Lottery, the odds of matching all five numbers and the Mega number and winning the Mega Million jackpot is 1 in 302,575,350.
The Mega Millions game is played in 45 states, as well as the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
