Wayne Rooney continues to be a major focal point of the current transfer window since the Manchester United veteran has not been shy about the possibility of departing Old Trafford after 9 seasons.

According to The Guardian however, first-year head coach David Moyes and the Man U higher-ups recently indicated that Wayne Rooney is not for sale, especially if it means heading to English Premier League rival Chelsea.

Manchester United have taken the top-level decision that Wayne Rooney will not be sold to Chelsea no matter how much money is offered or whatever the potential risks of keeping an unhappy player.

Chelsea have already failed with two bids, offering £23m on July 16 and £25m on August 4, and had been convinced United would eventually cave in rather than keep a player whose relationship with the club had deteriorated so badly.

Despite the recent news coming from Old Trafford that Wayne Rooney is not for sale, Bleacher Report indicates that Jose Mourinho and Chelsea are preparing a third offer for the Englishman in the hopes that a deal can finally be reached with the transfer window closing in early September.

Chelsea are preparing a third bid for him, of about £28million, and a source close to the club told the Daily Express: "Chelsea are sure Rooney will join."

But Jose Mourinho has in the past 48 hours made enquiries about Anzhi Makhachkala striker Eto'o as a possible bargain £5m back-up.

There is always the strong possibility that Rooney's relationship with new coach David Moyes could be further damaged if the club does not grant him a transfer. That being said, fans of both Man U and Chelsea will have to wait and see what happens if a third offer is put on the table as Jose Mourinho indicated it would.
