Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski has long been linked to an eventual move to Bayern Munich and due to the fact that the 25-year-old's contract with the 2012-2013 Champions League runner-up is set to expire at the conclusion of the current season, many soccer fans around the globe believe the Bundesliga star will make his move to the German champions before the start of the 2014-2015 season. Despite the fact that Lewandowski has spoken about the expected move in the past, recent reports indicate that the Poland native still covets a spot in the English Premier League and that Lewandowski could make the move at the end of the season, putting an end to the thought that he'll latch on with Bayern.
Though many though the striker had already agreed to a deal with Bayern Munich effective next season, Daily Mail reports that Lewandowski denied those claims while also hinting that he desires an eventual move to the Premier League. "I will be able to sign a contract in January," Lewandowski said recently. "But I have never said that I will sign a contract with Bayern. It was a misunderstanding. It is true I had an opportunity to speak with Sir Alex Ferguson but we didn't mention the transfer. One day I would like to play in the Premier League. It would be a great experience."
Despite the fact that Alex Ferguson is no longer the coach at Manchester United after stepping away following the 2012-2013 season, new coach David Moyes and the Red Devils remain interested in the services of one of the top scorers in the game. In addition to drawing interest from Manchester United, The Telegraph reports that Manchester City and Chelsea also continue to follow the ongoing saga that has become Robert Lewandowski's future.
While monitoring Lewandowski's next move will certainly be interesting, ESPN reports that the 25-year-old would prefer to remain in the Bundesliga next season, leaving open the initial move that would see Lewandowski join 2012-2013 UEFA Champions League winner Bayern Munich.
It may seem confusing to many that Lewandowski expressed his desire to one day join the Premier League after the initial belief was that a move to Bayern was all but a certainty. The soccer stars of today change teams and leagues constantly and even if Lewandowski finally joins Bayern Munich, don't be surprised if he jumps ship one day for the Premier League.
